Big Lebowski, anyone?
Today was freezing! I think the daytime high was 14F! Right now it’s about 7F!
To beat the cold, a bunch of Cornell planner headed to the bowling alley! Cornell actually has its own bowling alley on campus (in the basement of one of the gyms!)
Little known fact about me: I was once in a bowling league! <– Nerdy! I know!
I’m glad I got out, because today was one of those days were I had to remind myself to smile. It worked though! I got myself out the door, unburied my car, picked up a friend and headed to the lanes.
There was pizza

Have you ever been to a place where you have to keep your own bowling score on paper!?!?!
But overall… a ton of fun!
Honestly, today has not been fun. I have been a bottomless pit all day.
Today was the first day in the past two weeks that I actually felt like I had to stop myself from eating when I wanted to and all I could think about was food. All day my stomach felt empty no matter how much I ate/drank. I tried everything… wait ten minutes before eating something to see if you really want it… I did. Drink water… still wanted food. Drink hot tea… still wanted food, had about 5 cups of tea today. By the time I went bowling, I had already eaten 1,500 calories (which I realize isn’t that much but this is the amount that I’ve been eating most day the past two weeks without feeling hungry). At the bowling alley I had 2 pieces of pizza and about probably 5 cookies and many chips.
The thing is, even after that, I wasn’t full. I wasn’t hungry, but I wasn’t full. Do you ever have those days where you just can’t seem to eat enough?
I’m not sure what it is.
I’m trying not to feel guilty because what’s done is done. One evening is not going to derail my efforts at a healthy lifestyle; however, I can’t help but feel a little disappointed that I couldn’t stop after 1 piece of pizza and 1 cookie. Oh well! What’s a girl to do?
Tomorrow will be a better day, full of smiles!
Now, I might need to re-watch The Big Lebowski (Yay for Netflix watch instantly!), because I flew through those two discs of Mad Men I have!
Have a great night!
Who doesn’t have those days?! I know I’ve had them! I feel like it’s just a part of our bodies telling us what they need. I’m kind of a firm believer in the thought that if you’re REALLY hungry, moreso than usual and not just a mental “want food” sort of hunger, then it’s our bodies way of telling us it just simply needs more fuel, for whatever reason. So, I’ll just accept that I’ll eat a bit more than usual, try to keep it healthy, and not worry about it. Tomorrow’s another day – one day doesn’t hurt! And honestly, people have done far worse than it seems you did, so I’m glad you’re of the same “Tomorrow’s a new day” mindset 😉
And what matters most is that you were out with friends, having a good time, and enjoying yourself!
and I totally need to see the Big Lebowski…I’m embarrassed to admit I’m a movie recluse. haha.
We all have those kind of days. It could just be your body telling you it needs something, but then again it could be just your mind/body playing tricks on you, it see’s your eating better and not eating as much junk food as you have the past few weeks and its kind of making you bring it all back so you eat more. Like its telling you “give me carbs! I want carbs!” because you’ve been eating better and not giving it carbs lately.
I definitely don’t think I’m lacking in the carb department. Since I’m a vegetarian, I can’t really do a low carb diet nor would I really want to. Usually carbohydrates make up about 60% of the calories I consume. Definitely not low carbs haha.
LOL, I haven’t seen a bowling alley that keeps track on paper since the 80s! Then again, I haven’t actually been bowling since the 90s, so whatever lol
I have bottomless pit days all the time. I think it’s hormone-related. At least that’s what I convince myself. lol

Ok, we DEFINITELY are bloggie twins! I was a bottomless pit all day long as well yesterday and I’m pretty sure that I consumed more than I burned but hey… that’s ok! Today’s an other day and it’s going to be a super healthy one I’m sure :).
Maybe we have to blame the chocolate oats. 🙂
Have a FAB day Karla!
Oh my gosh, I DEFINITELY have bottomless pit days. No worries– you’ll get back on track tomorrow!
I LOVE bowling!!! Lol, but no, I have never had to keep track of my score on paper!Funny stuff.
No worries girlypops, everyone has those days. Even though you weren’t feeling, “hungry” your body was probably needing some of the things you had later on. One day out of your week isn’t gonna killa ya – and neither will seven! 😛 You’re right, tomorrow’s a new day for eats, and he – you had a fabulously fun time with your friends, and what could be wrong with that? 🙂
Also, I love the Big Lebowski. 🙂 Stay warm!!
We had a bowling alley in the basement of my college’s student union, too, and that was always fun (even if there are only like 5 lanes so there was usually a long wait!).
Also, everyone is allowed an “off” day every now and then. Think about all the days you’ve stayed at 1500 — one day isn’t going to make a difference!
There’s no shame in being in a bowling league 😉
I have a bottomless pit day atLEAST once every 10 days or so. I think it’s completely fine- it’s your body’s way of telling you that it needs more energy. And there’s always those random days where you’re just not hungry…so it all balances out 🙂
I was a bottomless pit last night! We had all sorts of random leftovers and all I wanted was pudding, haha! So I ate some smoothie and chocolate instead and work up STARVING! You’re right, though, one evening, or even one week, or even one month, is not the end of the world. I’m going to try my darnedest to limit to one evening, though 😉
Bowling league sounds fun! Maybe that’s something hubby and I could do to meet people here! I don’t think it’s nerdy at all. I just wish I wasn’t so bad! And I like keeping score by hand…I bet that makes me nerdy.
I have days like this, too. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. If you body is begging for food, I say, give it food!
the dude! lol i love that movie, such a classic. you go to cornell? my cousin goes there and i’ve always wanted to visit, it sounds beautiful! plus you have moosewoods, i’d LOVE to eat there!
I think it is totally normal to have days when you feel like you are always hungry – it always balances itself out!
