Happy Mardi Gras!!
I remember feeling so cool in high school French when I realized Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday in French! Nerd. I know… but enough about that.
I woke up this morning to a good amount of snow on the ground. While I groaned a bit, I got my butt to the gym anyway. Here are some of my tips for working out when it’s cold.
- Dress in layers if you have to walk to the gym.
- Put all your layers on in the house and wear them for a few minutes while you get everything ready (i.e. fill up your water bottle). By the time you get outside you’ll be so warm that the cold air will feel great!
- Wear snow boots and bring your gym shoes in a plastic bag, change your shoes there.
- The hardest part is getting there. Just do it!
How do you motivate yourself to work out when it’s cold out?
On one of the gym TVs today, MTV was playing music videos! Can you believe it?!?!
The prize for most ridiculous video: Lucris “How Low”
Why Luda?? Why!?!
Also, Ke$ha… girl is a hot mess… not a in a good way…
But on to lunch… once I find something I love, I tend to eat the same thing over and over again. Last week it was hummus/cheese/veggie wraps.
Here is my most recent obsession discovery….
Annie’s Naturals Organic Buttermilk Dressing! Sooo good!! Creamy and tangy! Salad dressings really can make or break a salad! Try it!
Huge salad! Along with a can of soup!
Campbell’s Harvest Select Light Minestrone with Whole Grain Pasta.
You’ve probably realized I’m a little obsessed with soup. I really liked this one! They were on sale at Target! I might have to go back and get more!
Huge meal for not a whole lot of calories!
I ended my meal with a delicious cup of tea…
Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride!!!!!!!! I kept seeing this tea on blogs and really wanted to try it since everyone raves about it. I commented on Paula‘s blog how I couldn’t find it around here and she sent me a box plus a few others to try! What a sweetie! Thanks so much Paula!
I wonder how on earth they get it to taste like this. I’ve been drinking it plain (got it yesterday and already have had 4 cups of it) but to one of my cups I added some agave and it was like dessert! Sooo good!
Mardi gras will not be a very exciting day for me. I have a ton to do!
Do you have any plans for Mardi Gras?
Oh and if you’re in want of some fun reading material, this girl has a bunch of fun Mardi Gras stuff! (Including one very funny picture…)
Have a wonderful afternoon!
My friends and I had a fun Mardi Gras planned, but unfortunately they’re all ill. 😦 As for MTV, yes in the morning they act like their true selves and play music videos! And I am soooo not behind Ke$ha. The mere fact that I have to use a dollar sign to spell her name just makes me annoyed. Did you see when she faked that whole assault on the Hollywood sign?!
Sadly, no, I do not have Mardi Gras plans. 😦 I’m disappointing my home turf! 🙂
I’ve been wanting to give that soup a try– I’ll have to buy some!
Wow…think I got 30 seconds into that Luda video before I had to turn it off. lol.
And I don’t blame you for obsessing over a new food discovery – I’m totally like that, except lately I’ve been forcing myself to be otherwise, lol. I’m branching out!
SO jealous of the tea – why is it soooo insanely discreet?! One night I went to every grocery store within a 30 mi radius (every single one on my way from work to home – 30 miles!) and it was nowehere. to. be. found. So savor it! haha. It’s like the pumpkin shortage 😛
(although really, I think the pumpkin shortage is due to all of us rabid pumpkin-loving bloggers, not this drought nonsense 😛
You can never go wrong with soup and salad, that looks so yummy. Needs some crackers though 😉 Man, I am such a carb pusher! LOL
No Mardi Gras plans, today is my mom’s birthday but her party is on Friday. So we’re just eating dinner and watching a movie tonight with her. 🙂
Jenn
LOL, I didn’t realize that is what Mardi Gras meant in French! Thanks for sharing.
No plans for me. We had a work Mardi Gras party, but I was out all last week so stayed at my desk and caught up on stuff.
I love the sugar cookie sleigh ride tea 🙂 I kept reading the ingredients over and over and still couldn’t figure out how they got it to taste like a cookie
Great tips for the cold! And I agree about Ke$ha…but her songs do have a good beat
Ummm yeah, I am 30 and never knew that it meant Fat Tuesday either! LOL Good deal. I wore puple and yellow today so I figured that was festive however I have to wake up at 545A so no partying for me. I do have some super fun stories from college though about Fat Tuesday 🙂
As for working out in the cold, I actually enjoy it. I like walking/running when it’s cold outside and love how the cold air fills my lungs. Crazy I know!
funny post title. ya i tend to get into eating the same thing over and over too; if it tastes so good you aren’t really tempted to branch out much! esp when hummus is involved 🙂
Hehe I don’t even know what Mardi Gras is! 😉
Mmmm I love me some salad! It’s quite a shocker that I brought a WRAP today! So unusual! 😉
Ke$ha. ugh. I completely agree with Gina – a dollar sign in the name is SO 1996!! Well apparently she uses it because she didn’t get any $$ for her part in Flo Rida’s “Right Round” or whatever it’s called.
I had to search the term in wikipedia to know what you’re talking about 😉
great tips to layer well for the gym. I’m kind of lazy, I just drive there 😦
So glad you got the tea! It tastes great with a little stevia 🙂 I saw the dressing the other day, almost picked it up! I like the artichokes in your salad!
Great looking salad!
Thanks for the link! 🙂
