Taco Flavored Kisses

You’re probably all too refined to watch South Park, but my lunch reminded me of that episode.

Taco Salad!  (But way healthier and probably more delicious!)

Started with:

  • Romaine (~ 3 cups)
  • Red Pepper (1/4 of a pepper)
  • Black beans (1/2 cup)
  • Cheddar Cheese (about an ounce)
  • 1 Packet of Wholly Guacamole!

Then topped it with my amazing homemade creamy salsa dressing: 1/4 cup salsa + 1 tbsp greek yogurt! That’s it!

Doesn’t look that tasty but trust me, it is!

Delicious! I considered having it again for dinner but decided I should probably vary my daily nutrient consumption (not that soup and toast was a better option… but oh well).

After lunch, I couldn’t resist a cupcake.  So I had a huge cat mug of tea with a cupcake.

Delightful!

Stress Eating:

So yesterday and today, I’ve been stress eating a bit, okay maybe more than a bit.  Honestly, I’m trying not to worry about it too much.  Everything will be turned in and done by Thursday.  I figure if I overeat a little too much these days, it’s not going to kill me.  I’m not going to let a little bit of overeating stress me out even more.  There are more important things for me to stress about right now.  I’ve realized this month that once my stress levels drop, I eat significantly less.  So the moral of the story is, sometimes stress eating happens and while I do all I can to curb it, sometimes I just have to give in, get my work done and move on to maintain my sanity.  What are your thoughts?

Guess I should get back to paper writing since I won’t be watching Lost 😦

Lastly, here’s a link to a hilarious blog post from NPR’s Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me where they try the KFC Double Down Sandwich. Have a great night!!

haha – I think you win the “best mug ever” award, hands down! 😛
I was soo glad to read that you’re not letting the stress-eating stress you out even more. As you said, a couple of days isn’t going to mess you up – and you’re still eating awesome things like that salad 😉 Sanity is most important!
And thanks so much for that blog post link, haha. Too funny!

Mmmmm, I love mixing salsa with greek yogurt for creamy dressing!!

Re: stress eating– don’t worry about it! Everyone has a day or two every month when they’re going to do that, and I’m a firm believer in the fact that as long as you aren’t stress eating for two months straight, it will all balance out.

Oooh that creamy salsa dressing looks so good! Such a great creation!!!

Stress eating happens and I find that I just go with it. Usually if I have exactly what I’m craving then I eat a less than if I had a healthier substitute!

haha never underestimate the trashy tv I watch 😉 Rock of Love anyone??

Try not to worry too much about the stress eating because that will only stress you out more 😕 I mean, you could try and find a good substitute for when you’re stressed like listening to music or going for a walk?

I think that when I dwell on my stress eating it only makes me crave more, like I feel I can justify my actions. All I know, is it comes and goes. When I eat better, I feel better. So I stress eat, get it out of my system, then go back to healthy eating. Not saying it’s healthy behavior. It’s just how I roll.
Taco salad looks perfect. I like to make salsa dressing too 🙂

The salad looks great. Stress eating is a difficult thing for me too. I try to curb it because I know I’ll just get more stressed about the additional eating, maybe decompress buy repeatedly killing Mario on the Wii … wait I do that anyway. 🙂

HAHA I love Southpark! Especially Southpark the musical. I love the salsa guac combo! Looks like thousand island dressing/ Innout sauce. I think stress eating isn’t such a horrible thing. Like, if that’s how we destress, that’s how we do it! It’s better than like..hurting…puppies..or something!

Haha, love the Double Down bit, too funny.

I didn’t know Wholly Guuacamole had 100 calorie packets?!??! That will be the end of me. Salsa and greek yogurt is one of my favorite combos ever!

lovely taco salad, where did you get that guacamole packet? so cute! 😀
I stress eat often when I was writing paper and running code (and not working) like yesterday, 3/4 box of golean went to my belly while I stressed out! But … what can we do about it? stress out more ? no please, enough stress to add more. So, just moving on and accept that it’s not a crime to do that!

I love South Park! We watch it all the time. 😀 Your taco salad looks fabulous, and very healthy to boot!

You know me, I’m very much into calorie cycling, so I think it’s perfectly fine AND natural to eat more some days that others. What you eat or don’t eat in one day isn’t nearly as important as what you eat over several days/weeks/months. Balance, not perfection. While stress eating isn’t the healthiest habit, it’s also not the end of the world unless you let it consume you. If it all balances out in the end, don’t worry about it too much. 😀
