Sunday is my least favorite day of those days that we consider “the weekend.”
Let’s be realistic. Sunday is a jerk.
Friday is exciting. It’s the beginning of the weekend, and you’re ready to relax. He’s like the cute boy you have a crush on and can’t wait to see.
Saturday is great. You can sleep in, go to the farmer’s market, watch shows you’ve been waiting all week to catch up on, stay up late with friends knowing that it doesn’t really matter what time you wake up the next day. He’s the boy that takes you on fun dates.
Then Sunday… There’s the expectation that you were lazy all weekend and should probably get something done. The lazy lounging around that makes Saturday so blissful is replaced by the guilt that you should be getting work done while your brain tells you that it’s still the weekend. He’s the boy you’ve been with far too long for your own good and should probably break up with to maintain your sanity.
This specific Sunday, today, was particularly unproductive. I opened readings, read the first paragraph and got distracted. I went to the computer lab and got little done. I lost my student ID and didn’t go to the gym. I ate about 15 oreos… maybe more.
I managed to redeem myself with dinner, featuring pee’s best friend: asparagus.
Open faced cheese, egg and asparagus sandwich.
1 sliced of multigrain bread, toasted with cheddar cheese.
Topped with roasted asparagus in olive oil, salt and pepper
and poached egg.
Nothing makes up for Sunday’s jerk like tendencies like a runny yolk. That and the potential of having strawberries grow in my window.
Now these little guys are sitting on my window sill soaking up the sun chillin’ like it’s Saturday.
I, on the other hand, must get to reading because pretty soon it’ll be Monday, everyone’s favorite day.
Hope you all had a nice weekend.
What’s your favorite day of the week?
Seriously. Sunday is a bitch! I loved your analogies to boys. Sunday is like the guy that tries to hit on you and you’re like “GET AWAYYYYY”
HAHA! That’s a wayyyy better analogy!
I think this is one of the best comments about Sunday ever.
I agree to the 100000th degree!!
I totally loled at pees best friend 🙂
I love Mondays. I have no class, I’m usually done with homework by then, and nobody else is doing laundry but me. That’s bliss.
whoaaaa I want to grow my own strawberries!! My favorite day of the week is Thursday because it’s my last day of classes 😀
Asparagus IS pees best friend lol
Ahaha – Karla, this post is too. good. I was laughing on the inside just about the whole time 😉 And I’m totally jealous of your strawberry grow kit 😉
Thursday-Saturday are totally where it’s at 😉
Pee’s best friend, that was great! I just had some asparagus myself…but it was not with a runny yolk 😦
I HATE Sunday’s too. I’ve said that since forever and my mom would always retort, “Nicole, you cannot ‘hate’ the Lord’s day.” Anyways, I hate Sundays. More than Mondays, I think…
My favorite day is Thursday because I’m always busy (makes the time fly by) and it’s my Friday because I don’t work Fridays 🙂 I told my husband, Saturdays are starting to feel like Sundays, though…and I don’t like that!
Yeah, Sunday depresses me…always has, always will. I can remember being depressed by Sunday even as a little kid. Bastard day, bringing down a little kid. 🙂
Haha, I don’t like Sundays, either! They’ve always been so boring to me. My favorite day of the week is probably Monday. Working at home and not being on a specific schedule, I like when the rest of the world goes back to normal and not me. 😀
That poached egg looks delish. I ❤ asparagus.
Jenn
I’ve been known to eat 15 or more oreos…..
we should be sisters! I feel the same way about Sunday!!! knowing that Monday is coming, relax is over soon makes me sad. Well… this is my feeling when I was working or going to school, nowadays things are little bit different. Everyday could be a Sunday or Friday depending what I’m working. For example last saturday was a 100% relax day and it was good. On Sunday i worked 6 hours, did laundry and call my mom so I’d say a good day too! 🙂 I think what makes a day good or bad is how I plan to do and whether I’m ready for it. If in a day that I don’t feel like working and i force myself to do it, it always ends up unproductive, I don’t get work done and I don’t relax either. So it’s wiser to listen to what we want (just like eating) and go for it. 🙂
sorry for the long rambling….. heheh
Sunday is a jerk! All like, “oh look at me I’m the weekend, I’m fun…” and then BAM it starts taunting me because I have work the next day…. grrr!
Sundays are awful. Why do they even exist? Well there must be one day that’s completely bollocks.. you know, just to keep things in balance ;).
I totally laughed out lout when I read your pee’s best friend comment. Hooray for cheerful Mondays ;).
Agreed on Sunday, I always have a long list of chores to prepare for the week and dread the looming work week. Saturday is probably my favorite day.
I totally agree, but also agree that the sandwich would make it all better – that looks amazing!
hahaha Sunday is a jerky boyfriend. or the guy that hits on you that you don’t want to. any analogy works!
Good luck with your strawberries!!! how exciting, I’m jealous 🙂
I try to get most of my chores done on Saturday so I can enjoy Sunday, but it never happens! I really love the last day of the work week (depending on the week) because I love thinking I might get a bit more sleep the next day!
